Alexandra was excited about this trip. She had groveled at work hard for saving enough money to realize this dream. Hawaii, what a wonderful place. From the moment she had seen the pics of volcanic eruption in Big Island, she was hooked. She went no other tourist place, did no other frivolous expense and just saved for a year to book this trip.

This was her last day on the island. Luckily there was a mild volcanic eruption, not major enough to evacuate the land, but just strong enough to do the famous lava sighting. This was one of the major attractions of the island. She had visited the crater yesterday when the volcano was calm. The trek was rough but enjoyable. One could connect to mother nature in such places and feel the serenity which often gets lost in the city life.

She sighed as she remembered the hot lava flowing into ocean water, a scene so mesmerizing she almost wanted to go near to touch it. But the smoky hue from ashes and the steam surrounding it cut thru the maze and prevented her from the folly. Of course, the steamer would not have entertained such a thought even if she would want to it.

Sitting in her hotel room she poured coffee into mug from teapot. As she sipped coffee thought about Maui which she visited before Big Island. Maui, the place for whale watching, surfing and black sands. It was usually suggested island for couples, but heck, she had enjoyed its offerings better. She went whales watching and was enthralled watching the whales frolicking about under the blue sky and ocean. It was worth the bird’s nest she had supported as hair for the reminder of the day, she smiled.

The trip was coming to an end, like all good things in life. Tomorrow she would fly back and resume the monotonous life. But once back, she knew, she would be restless to travel again. Eager to add another page to her life story.

Prompt words: Rough, teapot, Smoky, blue, erupt
